Course taken: HND Level 4 in Health & Social Care
What are you planning to do after College?
I have been successful and gained a place at the University of Cumbria on their Working with Children and Families. I start this September (2017)
What are the best bits about your course?
The different variety of modules that we did kept me focused. The tutors are all really good and supportive, they do not put pressure on you although there is a timetable to follow. They also make sure that you understand everything and treat you like an adult – with respect – which helped me with my learning. Placements were also offered which provided lots of experience and a place where you can put your learning into practice. I feel that I became a good reflective practitioner and made some great friends at LMC. I completed my Maths GCSE having found it very difficult at school. I have done pre-GCSE and GCSE and found the tutor to be amazing. She waited until I understood each concept before moving on and always explains things thoroughly. LMC has given me the opportunity to do Maths along with my course, which worked for me.
Why did you choose your course?
It offered everything that I needed – I couldn’t go to University because I didn’t feel ready and maths was a problem, I needed that specialist help.
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
The course had been recommended by one of my friends and because it was local. I have enjoyed the two years very much.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
Do it! The course is demanding but you get a lot of support - it is a way to obtain a degree, at a reasonable cost with more support than you get anywhere else!
Anything else you would like to tell us?
Only that I would recommend Lancaster & Morecambe College to anyone, particularly the course and the maths staff and I’ve loved it!
