This Level 4 qualification aims to provide professional development opportunities for practitioners working in the school and college workforce. This qualification will embrace your wealth of experience, proven knowledge and skills in a teaching and learning environment. It will challenge you in both daily practice and theoretical understanding.
You will acquire and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as you complete the qualification through work-based learning opportunities.
This qualification has 5 mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Enabling individuals to learn
Unit 2 – Understanding how to support children and young people to improve their mental health and well-being
Unit 3 – Working with others to support individuals with additional needs and disabilities in a school or college setting
Unit 4 – Working with families and other professionals in a school or college setting
Unit 5 – Implementing change in a school or college setting
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which will include direct observation within the workplace, written assignments and professional discussion in line with the Assessment of Learning provided for each unit.
At the end of your course you will receive the NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges. This certificate can usually be completed in 12 months.
Upon achievement of this qualification, the learner will be equipped as an Advanced Practitioner. Advanced Practitioners use crucial leadership skills to mentor others across all roles and responsibilities in the school or college workforce.
Upon completion of this course, learners may use their Level 4 certificate amongst other qualifications to progress onto higher education.
Alternatively, they may progress within the workforce in the following job roles and responsibilities:
• Higher Level Practitioner/Teaching Assistant
• Internal progression at a higher level, including those with management responsibilities
• Leadership, mentoring, supervision and management opportunities

In apply for this course you must be at least 18 years old and employed in a suitable role within a school or college.
In addition to this, you must also have:
The Support Teaching & Learning Level 3 qualification or an equivalent
English and Maths GCSEs at grade C/4 or above OR equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills
A wealth of experience, knowledge and understanding working in schools or colleges
A satisfactory DBS check
Enthusiasm for the subject area
Good interpersonal skills
