The Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering (Pathway D) is designed to teach learners the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a career in the gas industry. Suitable for those with previous experience in plumbing,the course will further develop industry skills in order to pursue a career in gas, or to upskill an existing workforce.

Gas engineers specialise in the installation and repair of gas appliances including central heating boilers and systems, cookers, fires,and water heaters. The work of a gas engineer is safety critical and those on the course will learn how to implement statutory requirements,such as the gas safety regulations.

Following completion of the course, learners will be competent enough in gas work to become Gas Safe Registered, which is a legal requirement to work on gas systems.

Industry Links

On completion of the Level 3 course in Gas Engineering, learners can apply to become a member of Gas Safe Register and receive a licence card for relevant gas categories.

Entry Requirements

ELIGIBILITY

  • You’re over 19 and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification or higher

  • You have not already been funded for a course using Free Courses for Jobs offer, except for 1 short course via the offer. If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria for the offer, all courses are available to be funded via the Advanced Learner Loan.

  • You have a full Level 3 qualification, and you earn below the annual National Living Wage

  • You have a full Level 3 qualification, you’re unemployed and in receipt of benefits

Please note: this criteria is only applicable to courses for the current academic year starting on or before 31/7/2024
