This qualification is suitable for learners who use IT in their job currently, or plan to pursue a career requiring IT skills. Units can be taken at a variety of levels, allowing learners to apply knowledge, understanding and skills to a level recognised by employers, thus proving competency in their job role.

The aims of this course are to:
• Focus on the study of IT User Skills (ITQ) within the Information and Communication Technology sector
• Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
• Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills

Course Overview

The course comprises of both mandatory and optional units (16 credits) with learners creating a portfolio of knowledge tests and scenario-based assessments.

Mandatory unit (5 credits):

  • Improving Productivity using ICT

Optional units (20 credits):

  • Word processing software

  • Spreadsheets

  • Presentations

  • Database

  • Design software

  • Using email

  • Using the internet

  • Imaging software

Extensive use will be made of the college VLE, Moodle, to allow for remote study. On successful completion of the course you will achieve NCFE Level 3 Certificate in IT User Skills (ITQ)

On completion of the course you may choose to study further digital skills qualifications. At Lancaster & Morecambe College, we currently offer:

In addition, we have a variety of social media courses available covering the essentials of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Entry Requirements

No previous formal qualifications are required however, prior study at ICT Level 2 is preferred.

Course Fees

This course costs £0.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
