This one or two-year, full-time course is perfect for anyone who loves sport and fitness and wants to work in the growing Sport and Leisure industry or progress to university to study a sport-related subject.
You’ll spend 3–4 days a week in college learning about sports development, fitness, and coaching through a mix of practical and theory sessions. Alongside your studies, you’ll complete an industry work placement and take part in exciting enrichment activities.

• Two-week work placement in roles such as PE teaching, leisure centre assistant, gym instructor, or sports development officer.
• Regular involvement with the Lancaster and Heysham School Sport Network, planning and delivering sporting events for local schools
• Opportunity to undertake optional additional coaching qualifications
• Progress to:
o Sport HNC/HND at LMC
o University degrees in Sports Coaching, Sports Development, or Sports Science
o Careers such as:
Personal Trainer
Sports Coach
PE Teacher
Fitness Instructor
The course prepares students for progression to higher education and employment. Students progressing on to higher education are able to study the Sport HNC and HND at LMC, or may choose to study a degree such as Sports Coaching, Sports Development or Sports Science.

To study this course you must:
Enthusiasm for sport and fitness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths, OR a relevant Level 2 qualification plus English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
