I am proud to be coming to this college and representing this college. I wouldn’t be where I am now without my course tutor Derek, who has helped and supported me through the years. Also I wouldn’t be where I am now without my employer who has helped me to become a better joiner.

Is this the first course you have done at LMC?
I started on a full time joinery course, then when I progressed and improved my skills I found employment to further my skills and knowledge of the industry and joined the Apprentice Joinery course.

What are the best things about your course?
Coming in and learning something new every day is what I enjoy. Derek has helped and nurtured my joinery skills and has been a big help in my progression to where I am now.

Why did you choose your course?
I have always been interested in working in the construction industry from a young age. I chose joinery as I really enjoy making bespoke joinery products for customers who can admire the workmanship and skills that goes into the product.

Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
To be honest I chose LMC because it is the closest college to home but it is a great college to learn a trade and new skills.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
I would advise anyone who is thinking about doing this course to do it as it is such a great trade to have under your belt and the staff are very good at guiding you step by step to achieve.

What has been your biggest accomplishment whilst studying at LMC?
I recently went to a SkillBuild competition which involved me competing against other colleges, I came 3rd which I’m proud of. However I’ve got to say my biggest accomplishment was finding employment with J. Dixon & Sons.

What do you hope to do when you’ve completed this course?
I hope to continue working with my current employer, improving my skills and maybe even one day start up my own joinery business.

Any other comments?
