I have always wanted to be a midwife and I knew I needed to gain the correct qualifications to allow me to go to university. I spoke to other people about it and found out about the Access to HE course at LMC, which would give me the qualifications I needed to progress to university.

Siobhan join the Access to HE course Lancaster & Morecambe College in September 2025 to pursue her goal of becoming a midwife.

After working up the courage I applied for the course and haven't looked back."

The Access to HE course is designed for adults aged 19+ to build the qualifcation they need to progress onto Higher Education studies. Whatever your situation, the Access Diploma offers you the opportunity to gain a qualification that could open the doors to university for you. You study a range of units including Human Physiology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Issues in Healthcare and Study Skills.

"I've really enjoyed all the learning on the course. I have also really improved my academic skills specifically in writing essays and correctly using Harvard referencing techniques and I am now able to better manage my work load and prioritise tasks."

Siobhan is now progressing onto the University of Cumbria to study Midwifery,

" The course has given me the confidence I needed to know that I can do this! I'm so proud that I was able to pass my Higher Biology exam and successfully get into university."
