My biggest accomplishment since leaving College has been winning a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. As a wheelchair rugby Paralympian, I continue to use the teamwork and “looking out for one another” ethic that I developed during my time at LMC.
Stuart Robinson, MBE, is a former Lancaster & Morecambe College student from the Public Services course in 1998-99, The course helped him progress to a distinguished career in the Royal Air Force, and at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games (held in 2021), Stuart achieved his proudest sporting milestone by winning a historic gold medal with the Great Britain wheelchair rugby team.
After finishing school, I joined the Public Services course at LMC with the aim of wanting to join the RAF. What I enjoyed most at College were the approachable tutors, the variety of subjects, and learning about the different Armed Forces throughout the course. During my time at LMC, I developed punctuality, confidence, and a much broader range of knowledge, all of which I took with me into my career.
The course gave Stuart a great insight into the Armed Forces and the different roles and perspectives available, while offering him the opportunity to learn alongside like-minded students, which was valuable both personally and professionally.
I took away a lot from my time as a student at LMC. It was a great course to be part of, and the tutors were professional, supportive, and fully approachable.
