I chose this course as it aligns with my goals and many trips were offered. I liked that it was assignment-based, allowing me to put time into my work. As the College is quite far away it allowed me to meet new people. The transport to College was also free allowing me to get there and back easily.
Sophie started Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2022 and enrolled in our Uniformed Protective Services course Uniformed Protective Services, hoping to pursue criminology in the future.
The international opportunities influenced Sophie's decision to choose LMC as it would provide her with a diverse range of industry knowledge. She also saw College as a new chapter, a chance to meet new people and make new friends whom she may not have known otherwise.

Sophie received the chance to go to Bulgaria as part of her course, for free! During this trip, students provided daily entertainment to children from Bulgaria, Ukraine and the Czech Republic which included water gymnastics, face painting, origami, dancing, archery, volleyball, pool games and kids games.
I loved every minute of our trip to Bulgaria, from meeting new people and making new friends to working with the children and learning about their different cultures and nationalities. Going to Bulgaria was one of my biggest achievements whilst studying at LMC.
The course has allowed Sophie to continue her studies at Lancaster University and reach her goal of pursuing criminology.
I would recommend the Uniformed Protective Services course. as it involves so many different topics including criminology, behaviour & discipline and physical fitness.
My favourite aspect of my role is seeing learners who struggle to believe in themselves when they first begin their journey at LMC, but eventually realise that they are very capable. It is a lightbulb moment when they realise they can be or do anything they want to. Learners walk through our gates unsure of themselves and sometimes struggle to believe in their abilities, but by the end of their journey they walk out of LMC confident and ready to take on the world.
I love working with people of all ages and backgrounds and seeing them make progress and achieve their qualifications, sometimes in “small” ways, such as remembering how to do a written multiplication.
If you want the opportunity to use and develop practical skills, learn about an accessible vocational area, have fun, work hard and deal with the public then this is the course for you. LMC is a great community asset and I think the local district are lucky to have such a modern, flexible and engaging place of education.
My favourite part of the role is guiding my students through the more practical aspects of Forensic Science, especially latent fingerprint collection and evidence handling. I enjoy watching them develop their confidence and skills in these techniques
It’s really difficult to state just one thing I love about working at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there are so many! I really wanted to work here because the college has a fantastic reputation. I love introducing new ways of working and keeping up with relevant trends to improve the course, and I really enjoy the supportive environment that we create for our students.
I enjoy being part of the team and thinking of new ways to support local businesses in realising their potential. Watching learners transition from a one-day course to gaining qualifications motivates me to continue teaching at LMC.
