This qualification aims to raise awareness of mental health and a range of mental health conditions.

Who is this Course for?

This course is designed for adult learners studying part time as a hobby or to support a change in their career.

What progression and career opportunities will I gain?

The course will prepare learners for further training and support a role in the workplace where learners need knowledge on mental health conditions.

What are the entry requirements for the course?

You will need:

• To be 16 years of age or above

• It may also be useful to have already achieved a Level 1 or 2 qualification in health and social care.

• To complete a satisfactory initial assessment in literacy skills.

What does the course involve?

You will study the following 10 mandatory units:

• Understanding mental health

• Understanding stress

• Understanding anxiety

• Understanding phobias

• Understanding depressions

• Understanding post-natal depression

• Understanding bipolar disorder

• Understanding schizophrenia

• Understanding dementia

• Understanding eating disorders

How will I be Assessed?

Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. You will be allocated an assessor who will support you through the learning process and assess your work, providing advice and guidance. You would be expected to complete the programme in 16 weeks.

What qualification will I get?

On completion of this course you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness, from NCFE.
