Achieving this qualification means that you will be able to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of themes that involve simple, everyday language use. You will gain basic skills and confidence in production and reception of BSL. This course is one evening a week for 20 weeks.
This qualification is divided into 3 units.
Unit 1 - Introduction to BSL;
Unit 2 - Conversational BSL
Unit 3 - Communication in BSL about Everyday Life.
Unit 1 is internally assessed. Units 2 and 3 are externally assessed.
You may progress to the British Sign Language Level 2 course following success completion of this course
There is no formal entry criteria or previous knowledge of BSL required for this course.
This course costs £290.00, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
