Covering the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private, and commercial locations, this 2-day course is aimed at practicing electricians who are interested in understanding how to install the range of equipment and systems available.

Course Overview

This course covers all the key skills to install, fault find and inspect and test electric vehicle charging points. You will learn how to safely install EV charging points in line with current guidance in both domestic and commercial environments.

  • How to install electric vehicle charging equipment for domestic locations.

  • Application of statutory legislation.

  • Applicable installation and earthing methods.

  • Completion of suitable installation risk assessment as required by the Code of Practice.

  • Calculating system design and installation requirements.

  • The testing and commissioning of the installation.​

Entry Requirements

Level 3 is suitable for electricians working within the electrotechnical sector with a great deal of technical skills and knowledge and a good record of safety and fault correction, ensuring that work meets the required standard.

There are no formal requirements for this course however the course is intended for practicing electricians so delegates should have a thorough understanding of:

  • Electrical installation techniques.

  • Inspection and testing of electrical installations.

  • 18th Edition Wiring regulations BS7671.

Course Fees

This course costs £100.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
