This course is designed to help you develop the basic skills and concepts associated with nail technology. You will learn various nail treatments such as fibreglass/wrap, U.V gel and the liquid and powder systems.

Course Overview

You will learn through practical activities and related theory sessions to develop your techniques to enable you to work in the nail industry. During the course you will be continuously assessed using a range of methods including practical observations, assignments and online examinations, which will enable you to gain the qualification. These exams are based on what you study in theory and practical units such as:

  • Working in Beauty Related Industries

  • Following Health & Safety

  • Client Care and Communication

  • Promoting Products and Services to Clients in a Salon

  • Providing Nail Treatments

To pass your exams, you will be required to do an extensive amount of coursework and supplementary study on this course. In class you will practice on each other every week until you take your assessments. As evidence you will need to present your portfolio which has all your evidence of assessments and exams. Upon completion you will gain a solid introduction to the techniques of applying nail enhancements to enable you and feel confident in working in the nail industry.

Progression Routes

Students may choose to continue their studies within College by progressing onto one of the following courses:

  • Level 3 Beauty Therapy FT or PT

  • Level 2 Hair & Media Make-up FT

  • Level 3 Theatrical & Media Make-up FT

Upon completion of this course students will also have the opportunity to move into entry level jobs as a Nail Technician and may choose to work in a salon, on a cruise ship or as a self-employed mobile technician.

Entry Requirements

There is no formal entry criteria for this course, just a commitment to your studies.

The qualification is suitable for anyone already employed in Beauty establishments or anyone who wishes to acquire expertise in this area. As you will be working with members of the public you need to be enthusiastic, confident and enjoy working with people on a daily basis. To remain on the course you will need to show your commitment to the course by having excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour.

Course Fees

This course costs £279.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
