T Levels are equivalent to three A Levels. These two-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares learners for work.

9 weeks work placement industry placement

Course Overview

This qualification will prepare you for a career in the construction industry, with a focus on Civil Engineering. This 2-year qualification includes an industry placement of 9 weeks (45 days).

In year one, you will develop core knowledge of how the construction industry works and the role it plays in the economy, health and safety, science behind design, surveying and planning, digital engineering techniques, and the sustainability and environmental impact of construction.

In year two, you will study the following specialism as your focus;

  • Civil Engineering

Industry Links

This course involves a substantial industry placement with an external employer. There is a requirement on the T Level qualification to complete a minimum of 315 hours in a placement setting.

You will work with an external business industry employer to apply knowledge and develop technical skills in a real-life business workplace.

The content for this qualification was devised by T Level panels consisting of employers and stakeholders in the industry, and has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure the content prepares learners for the world of work.

Progression Routes

Following successful completion of this course you can progress into roles such as:

  • Civil Engineering Technician

  • Railway Engineering design technician

Entry Requirements

T Levels are one of your options after you’ve finished GCSEs, and are designed for students aged 16-18. (19 year olds cannot apply).

Entry requirements – GCSE Maths, English and Science at Grade 4 or above

To study this course you must have:

  • enthusiasm for the subject/area

  • evidence of good skills in practical subjects

  • commitment to study (attendance, punctuality & behaviour)

  • be able to work independently

  • good interpersonal skills
