Job Description

Administrator – Energy, Engineering and Construction
Salary £22,651 per annum
37 hours per week

Lancaster and Morecambe College are seeking an organised reliable administrator to support the Energy, Engineering and Construction department with a range of administrative duties. As the administrator, you will provide a key link between the Programme Area and other departments of the College and external contacts, dealing with enquiries in a professional and helpful manner

You should possess excellent customer service and organisational skills and be competent in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing packages. GCSE’s Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2) in Maths and English are essential to the role.

*2 days to be taken on identified dates during the Christmas closure period as notified on the College calendar

Key Tasks / Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

  • To undertake a range of administrative duties to support the Programme Area Manager in Energy, Engineering and Construction.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. Deal promptly with enquiries by telephone and in person in a professional and helpful manner at all times.

  2. Maintain student records, data, register and census checks and monitor attendance with Programme Mentor.

  3. Arrange events.

  4. Provide administrative support, including use of spreadsheets and databases.

  5. Provide a key link between the Programme Area and other departments of the College and external contacts.

  6. Prepare agenda/minutes and servicing meetings.

  7. Deal with incoming and outgoing mail, including pay-claims, and responding to queries of a general nature in the absence of Programme Area staff.

  8. Maintain systems and co-ordinate requests for student information, including enrolments, references, records of achievement, examination entries, work placements, etc.

  9. Deal with day-to-day financial matters in the Programme Area, e.g. book and trip deposits, petty cash, sales.

  10. Other duties commensurate with the grade of post, including exam invigilation, as required

Skills & Experience Required

Experience 

Essential - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of working in a busy administration role covering a wide range of duties
  • Customer Service experienc

Desirable - Measured by application form and interview

  • Experience of operating databases

Qualifications

Essential - Measured by application form, interview* 

  • Administration Level 2 qualification and/or relevant experience
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 within specified timescale)*

Desirable - Measured by application form, interview and assessment*

  • IT qualification

*You will be required to undertake a Literacy and/or Numeracy assessment at, or immediately after interview, if you do not have these qualifications or cannot provide the relevant certificates
