We know that many people who live some distance from Lancaster & Morecambe College would like to study with us; that's why we offer full-time students (studying 14+ hours a week) daily return transport during term time on the routes detailed below.
Students don’t need to apply to use our free bus service; they will receive their student ID during enrolment which they will use to access this service. Please note that students can only use the bus route that is printed on their card.
Full time students from the Garstang and Preston area may apply for a free Stagecoach bus pass to use scheduled buses, please ask at Student Services when you have enrolled.

Two key things I learned during my time at LMC were to push myself to be more sociable and to speak up. My classmates were so encouraging; they gave me the space to share my thoughts and reminded me that it’s okay to ask for help. The tutors were fantastic, always adapting their support to meet our individual needs.
The trips were amazing, we visited universities for competitions and campus tours, attended careers fairs, completed teamwork days at places such as Lancaster Escape Rooms and Great Tower and were even given opportunities to travel abroad. Our course offered international trips to Disneyland Paris and the opportunity to undertake a two-week, all expenses paid, work placement in Italy!
Whilst studying Sport Level 4 HNC, I was chosen to fly out to Slovakia, fully funded for 3 weeks. My role there was a Youth Worker where I worked with young people who spoke very little English, I helped organise and lead sessions and supported those with English as their second language.
I was out of education for 24 years and it was just so daunting the idea of studying again. Don’t be scared to give it ago and have a chat with the college and make that first point of contact. Once you’ve done that you feel like it’s doable. The course is challenging but manageable if you commit to it. Ultimately, I wouldn’t have been able to progress in to University without it.
On my course I had the chance to travel to Vancouver, Canada for free. It was a great experience that boosted my confidence and helped me become more independent. It made me believe in myself and showed me what I’m capable of as I’d never been abroad before. The overseas trip opened up new possibilities to me, and got me more interested in travelling in the future. The fact that it was fully funded made it even better, as cost would have been a big barrier for me otherwise.
I hope to either continue on to university after the T Level course, potentially to study veterinary nursing, or to pursue a full-time career in the animal industry. I would recommend this course to others, I’d say it’s challenging and involves a lot of work, but if you’re thinking of going into the animal and land-based industry, it’s definitely worth it!
