Everyday is a learning day, never underestimate your own abilities and just go for it! Since completing my apprenticeship, I have been promoted to a Regional Director for possibly one of the best care companies in the UK, that's a big achievement!
Daniel came to Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2022 to study on our Leadership and Management course as well as undertaking an Operations/Deparmental Manager Apprenticeship, Level 5, in order to strengthen his skills and increase his career prospects.
Since achieving his qualifications in both courses, Daniel has been promoted to a Regional Director in the company he works for! Both courses provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you will need to lead and manage in a variety of settings.
I chose to study at LMC due to its lovely reputation, the fact it is easily accessible and also the wide range of courses offered for continuous professional development. My apprenticeship itself was amazing, I enjoyed working and bonding with such a lovely group and the amazing teaching and mentoring from our outstanding tutor - Gill!
During his apprenticeship Daniel feels he developed his skills in 6 key areas: leadership & management, operational skills, finance, communication, problem-solving and strategic planning.
For my apprenticeship project I decided to create a new domiciliary care service which I can happily say is now open! All the skills I learnt during my time on the apprenticeship have helped me get where I am today.
In his current job role he manages over 70 staff members and provides life changing care for over 100 clients. He oversees all aspects of the branch including HR, marketing, finance, recruitment and training. His role has enabled the branch to flourish.
I have been promoted to Regional Director for Westmorland Homecare, the only care provider in the UK with all its services awarded Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. I shall be overseeing five domiciliary care branches, hundreds of staff/clients and the opening of more Westmorland Homecare branches around the North West in the near future!!
When asked what he would say to someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship, Daniel said:

It’s really difficult to state just one thing I love about working at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there are so many! I really wanted to work here because the college has a fantastic reputation. I love introducing new ways of working and keeping up with relevant trends to improve the course, and I really enjoy the supportive environment that we create for our students.
I enjoy being part of the team and thinking of new ways to support local businesses in realising their potential. Watching learners transition from a one-day course to gaining qualifications motivates me to continue teaching at LMC.
Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
Behind every great business is a fantastic accountant! AAT qualifications are highly valued and they can really push you to achieve great things in your career. The whole team at LMC are dedicated and excited about giving you the best possible start in your new journey!
The course gives people experiences of business in many forms which can be used in a huge variety of possible future careers – past students have gone on to work in sectors as diverse as fashion, charities, social media, nuclear energy, defence manufacturing and the public sector.
Industry specific apprenticeships are a great way to learn new skills and knowledge, achieve a recognised qualification and earn a wage. Customer service is the corner stone of every successful business, and courses at LMC will help you identify, improve and introduce these skills successfully.
