I chose to study at Lancaster & Morecambe College because I wanted to build my confidence and gain more knowledge, and learn about bar service, silver service, customer service, and barista skills. I’ve really enjoyed working with my peers and staff during the dinner services in the College restuarant, The Bay Restuarant, and learning more about the hospitality industry.

Gurpreet first enrolled on the Bridge to Progression course at College in September 2021, and then progressed on to  the Hospitality Pathway Level 1 and 2 courses from 2023 to 2025.

Key skills Gurpreet has learned at LMC include communication, listening, being prepared and organised, and time management. She also shared that her time at College has boosted her confidence and prepared her for her I next venture, a Supported Internship at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary hospital.

“My biggest accomplishment at College has been overcoming my nerves when serving customers. I now feel much more confident and capable in customer service. To anyone considering a Hospitality & Catering course, I’d say go for it, you won’t regret it. It gives you valuable skills and knowledge about the industry.”

Now that Gurpreet has completed the course, she has been successfully accepted onto an internship at the hospital. She is excited for the new experiences in the future and to use the skills she has developed at College in a new environment.
