What do I need to join?

You will need:
• To be 16 years of age or above
• It may also be useful to have already achieved a Level 1 qualification in health and social care.
• To complete a satisfactory initial assessment in literacy skills.

General Information

This qualification aims to develop an understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism – covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, as well as how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

Distance learning is a great way of learning remotely without being in regular face-to-face contact with a teacher or an assessor. Students have the flexibility to study at home or at work, fitting in their course around other life and work commitments.

The course is for learners working in, or intending to work in a variety of sectors and job roles where an understanding of autism and knowledge of how to support people with autism is required.

Rising Stars Nursery is dedicated to providing a quality Early Childhood Education experience for children in a loving, stimulating and secure environment, with the aid and guidance of qualified, experienced, caring teachers and support staff.

Rising Stars Nursery has had a long association with Lancaster and Morecambe College and has taken on apprentices through the College’s recruitment and matching service. Expert assessors support the Apprentices to achieve their qualification in the workplace and develop the skills and qualities to be excellent staff for Rising Stars.

Utilising the range of qualifications on offer from the College, Rising Stars have also supported their existing staff to achieve the Level 2 and Level 3 childcare qualifications. They have also developed employees skills further with ITQ and customer service training.
