Fantastic Salon Facilities

In June 2015, we officially opened our state of the art salons located in the heart of the campus. This includes two hair salons, a nail studio and a beauty salon along with a reception and retail area. Our salons are well equipped providing our learners with a modern, spacious environment in which to learn and we work with top quality industry recognised product brands, such as Dermalogica and Wella. Our amazing facilities provide learners not only with a fantastic opportunity to practise and develop their skills but also a valuable opportunity to work with the community in order to develop their employability skills ensuring they are ready for the world of work.

Case Study: Daryl Birkby – Prestige

Prestige LogoDaryl started his Hairdressing Apprenticeship at Jo & Cass Lancaster through Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2007. He enjoyed working in the busy 5 star salon and attended LMC one day a week on the Apprenticeship program. Daryl preferred the Apprenticeship programme as he gained valuable experience and was supported through his training by his college Training Co-ordinator within the salon. Daryl achieved his full Apprenticeship framework in June 2009 and was offered a job as junior stylist within the salon.

Daryl continued his professional development within Jo & Cass completing numerous training courses including gents barbering. Daryl soon became a salon supervisor and as Jo & Cass opened their impressive ‘Gents Room’ Daryl became the Gents Salon Manager.

In July 2012 Daryl left Jo & Cass and opened his own salon, Prestige, in Lancaster. He already employs 9 staff including two of his own Apprentices. Daryl has chosen LMC for his apprentices as he knows he is supported by the college as well as his students, working together to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed.
