Traineeships are an opportunity to gain real work experience, develop crucial job skills and improve your English and maths, if needed. The programme can last from 6 weeks up to 1 year (though most Traineeships last for less than 6 months) with the content tailored to your individual career needs. Trainees will gain a high-quality work experience placement and essential work preparation training.
In partnership with Eden Project Learning and in-line with the development of the innovative Morecambe Bay Curriculum, all of our Traineeships embed the core values of community, sustainability and place-based learning.
Traineeships give young people aged 16 to 24 the skills and experience that employers are looking for, helping you to boost your careers prospects with an apprenticeship or other employment in the future.
If you feel that a work-based learning programme is for you and are aged 16 to 24, a Traineeship might be for you. A Traineeship may also be for you if you have little or no work experience.
Being a Trainee means you will be provided with a meaningful work placement in an employment sector of your choice. You will need to undertake a minimum of 70 hours on placement, gaining quality experience and a chance to acquire a Level 2 qualification in employability (if applicable) to aid your progression and development. Over the course of the Traineeship, you will work with your tutor and placement provider to develop the skills and experience you need to progress and succeed. You will also gain valuable work experience and transferable skills to improve your CV and boost your overall employment chances and aid in your progression on to an Apprenticeship or employment.
A Traineeship at LMC will give you confidence from experience of a real work environment and, where required, you can improve your maths and English grades. Employers won’t expect you to be the finished product – for them, attractive Trainees are motivated young people who are committed to learning.
