LMC have recently renewed their commitment to support the Lancashire Skills Pledge, a county-wide initiative which supports businesses and residents to thrive and prosper.
Principal, Daniel Braithwaite, was proud to formally sign the new pledge.
As an anchor institution for North Lancashire, Lancaster & Morecambe College is proud to be part of the Lancashire Skills Pledge. It strengthens our partnership with local employers and ensures our curriculum is aligned to the skills our region needs most. By working collaboratively through the Pledge, we can open up new opportunities for learners, support business growth, and contribute to a flourishing Lancashire economy.
The Skills Pledge covers a range of activities and areas of support and businesses identify which of the individual "pledges" they are willing to work towards. These include Recruiting Lancashire People, Taking on an Apprentice, Helping Young People Get Work Ready, Upskilling your Workforce and providing Work Experience and Industry Placements.
In line with the LSP renewal, Lucy Caldwell, the College's Employer Engagement Lead for Construction, Energy & Engineering, has recently signed-up as an Enterprise Adviser, working with Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
The role of an Enterprise Adviser is to support and work with an individual school's careers advisor and senior leadership team to help shape their career strategy. Lucy will use her own knowledge of LMI and network of local and regional employers to support the school’s career activities and events. In turn these inspirational activities with local employers, will inspire young people to make informed decisions and progress into their chosen careers.
