In February and March we will be running four weeks of after school taster sessions. Designed for students in Years 10 and 11, these sessions will give students a flavour of college life to help them make the right choice when deciding on a course after school.

Travel & Tourism Wednesday 4.00 - 5.00pm 28/02/2018 2 These sessions will enable you to learn, develop and practise the skills required to get started in the travel and tourism sector. The sessions will include developing your customer care skills, learning about major tourist attraction and planning journeys. You will get the opportunity to take part in cabin crew and holiday representative role plays.
Animal Studies Monday 4.15 - 5.15pm 26/02/2018 4

An opportunity to learn about and look after some of the 200+ animals kept within the LMC collection.

You will need signed parental permission which will be emailed to you for completion, evidence of an up to date Tetanus vaccination, flat footwear (e.g. work boots, wellies), water proof jacket (weather dependent) and suitable clothing for working with animals.

Carpentry & Joinery and Brickwork

Sessions combined. First two weeks are Carpentry & Joinery, followed by two weeks' Brickwork.

Carpentry & Joinery: Carry out a project using basic jointing techniques.

Brickwork: Building “Deadmen” and “Pyramids” using bricks and mortar.

Safety boots must be worn, please bring your own if you have them, (or these may be borrowed subject to availability).

Plumbing Tuesday 4.00 - 5.00pm 27/02/2018 4

Craft your initials out of copper tubing and take away away your work.

Flat soled full shoes, trousers and any long hair to be tied back.

Engineering and Fabrication & Welding Wednesday 4.00 - 5.00pm 28/02/2018 4

You will have the opportunity to create a battery-powered air freshener using CAD/CAM.

Sport & Public Services Tuesday 4.00 - 5.30pm 27/02/2018 4

A range of Public Service team building and Sports career activities followed by a review/skills audit of performance. Different activities x 4 over 4 weeks. Students to review their performance each week, set targets to develop and repeat to see if target has been reached.

You will need to bring suitable sports clothing and a drink with you.
