Courses taken at college: Aspire to Performing Arts
School: Dallam School
Is this the first course you have done at LMC?
Yes, but I was involved with NCS during summer 2017.
What are the best things about your course?
The very supportive relationship with my performing arts tutor and the size of the group.
Why did you choose your course?
I wanted a challenging course and staff who don’t patronise me.
Why did you choose Lancaster & Morecambe College?
I was advised to study at LMC because of the excellent reputation of the performing arts tutor, Briony.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the course?
If you have a passion and interest for performing arts and you are prepared for hard work, just do it and enjoy it!
What has been your biggest accomplishment whilst studying at LMC?
At the Aspire and Bridge Acting and Dance Showcase 2017, I was given the amazing opportunity to perform a solo spoken word piece called “Silence” which was written by Briony. I also contributed to the writing of the script, which surrounds the stigma around disability and the discrimination I face as a disabled teenager/actor.
What do you hope to do when you’ve completed this course?
Full time education at LMC. I want to study disability activism in the performing arts industry after college. I’m planning to study Performing Arts Level 2 next year and get involved with disability acting charities and share my story as a disabled actor.
Any other comments?
This course has been a gateway for me as a performer to move on to bigger and better things. Briony is so inclusive and understanding. She doesn’t want to highlight what I can’t do because of my disability so she’s choreographed showcases and dances where I can achieve. I have been really lucky to have Briony believe in me so that I can perform the best I can.
