There are a lot of online options, but it is much better to do it in person. I found it more beneficial to learn alongside other students who work in different sectors, as it helped me understand how other businesses are run.

Hannah joined Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2025, studying People Practice (CIPD) Level 3 to support her role as HR Advisor at Strongdor.

I studied the CIPD Level 3 course as it is a great starting point to get into HR. When I was offered the role at Strongdor, it was under the provision that I would do the course to help me in my role!

The People Practice (CIPD) Level 3 course is perfect if you want to get a head start in the HR world or want to level up in your career. Strongdor encouraged Hannah to join the course to gain a deeper understanding of the theory that goes into HR and how it all works behind the scenes! The course covers a range of topics relevant to every sector including business culture, change management, analytics, ethical practices, law and regulation and more.

The course has helped me by giving me a qualification that will support my HR career, but I also understand more of the theory now, and the background as to why we actually do things.

Hannah works as a HR Advisor at Strongdor in a varied, fast-paced role. She gets to tackle all aspects of HR from recruiting and onboarding to organising wellbeing events for their employees.

My position is very broad; it covers everything like recruitment and onboarding, employee relations cases, handling disciplinaries and grievances and supporting the HR Director with payroll admin. We also have a big focus on rewards; we organise wellbeing days where we bring in food trucks. Recently, we had a massage therapist come in, and our staff were able to book a free session!

When asked what she would say to someone considering the course, she said:

Definitely do the course; it's a great stepping stone into HR and a lot of employers ask for it. There are a lot of online options, but it is much better to do it in person.
