The most enjoyable aspects of my course have been learning new skills and meeting new people. It’s been incredibly rewarding to challenge myself academically and discover subjects I never thought I’d be interested in. The supportive environment has helped me grow in confidence, and I’ve built strong friendships with classmates who share similar goals. I now feel much more prepared and motivated to take the next step towards higher education.
Jessica Bolger has recently completed an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health & Social Care. Currently working as an administrator for a local business, Jessica undertook the course to pursue her ambition of studying Midwifery at university.
"I chose to study at LMC because it offered a brilliant route into university. I’ve always been passionate about Health & Social Care, especially Midwifery, so when I discovered this course, it felt like the perfect stepping stone towards achieving my dream of becoming a Midwife."
Jessica shared that one of the most enjoyable aspects of the course was developing key academic and personal skills such as time management, referencing, essay writing, and research, all of which will be invaluable during her university studies. She also highlighted the supportive and friendly environment at LMC, saying she thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, from fellow classmates to tutors.
"Studying at LMC has really helped me grow professionally. It gave me the UCAS points I needed to secure a place at my chosen university and finally access the Midwifery degree I’ve dreamed of for so long. More than that, it’s given me the confidence to take that next step, knowing I’ve built a strong foundation of knowledge and skills. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received throughout the course—it’s made a huge difference in helping me move closer to my goal of becoming a Midwife."
Jessica’s journey at LMC has equipped her with the skills, confidence, and all the qualifications needed to take the next step towards her dream career in Midwifery. With a strong foundation and a place secured at university, she’s excited to begin the next chapter.
My favourite aspect of my role is seeing learners who struggle to believe in themselves when they first begin their journey at LMC, but eventually realise that they are very capable. It is a lightbulb moment when they realise they can be or do anything they want to. Learners walk through our gates unsure of themselves and sometimes struggle to believe in their abilities, but by the end of their journey they walk out of LMC confident and ready to take on the world.
My favourite part of my role is helping my students take the first step towards fulfilling their ambitions to go to university and, eventually, progressing into their dream careers.
I’ve seen first hand how learners from all backgrounds thrive here at College, and it’s amazing to watch their confidence grow as they realise what they’re capable of. Education really can open doors, and LMC is a great place to start that journey.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience of animals with students and seeing a learners journey as they make progress. The best part of teaching the course would definitely be the experience we offer learners, it's a unique and hands on way of developing their knowledge of working with animals.
I love working with such keen and dedicated staff and students. I also like how every day is different because we attract such a wide range of students including year 11 from local high schools aged 16-18 who apply to the full time courses, to adult students who attend the part time courses. It’s nice to work with so many people from all different backgrounds and cultures who share a passion for cooking.
If you want the opportunity to use and develop practical skills, learn about an accessible vocational area, have fun, work hard and deal with the public then this is the course for you. LMC is a great community asset and I think the local district are lucky to have such a modern, flexible and engaging place of education.
