This course will provide you with knowledge on the underlying principles of major hairdressing services and practical skills required to successfully carry out these services.

Who is this Course for?

This course is designed for 16-18 year old and adult learners, the course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers. For 16-18 year old learners this will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience.

What progression and career opportunities will I gain?

After completing this course you could go in to employment or self-employment.

What are the entry requirements for the course?

Level 2 Hairdressing plus English and maths at grade C/4 or higher.

Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

What does the course involve?

You may study advanced units in the following:

• Promotional Activities

• Health and Safety

• Consultation

• Promote Services and Products

• Creatively Cut Hair

• Colour Hair

• Creatively Style and Dress Hair

• Hair Extensions

• Colour Correction

• Hair show, competitions or a photo-shoot

• Work placements

All LMC students will receive tutorial support.

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded a C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.

How will I be Assessed?

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including practical and oral assessment, together with portfolio building and online testing.

What qualification will I get?

On completion of this course you will receive City and Guilds Level 3 in Hairdressing, which is highly valued by employers.
