An apprenticeship in a genuine job, with training, meaning apprentices learn and gain skills and professional competencies in their chosen career, whilst receiving a wage.

Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study.

This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. Apprenticeships are available at level 2 and level 3.

Who is this Course for?

An apprenticeship is a genuine job, with training. Apprentices will learn and gain professional competencies in their chosen career, whilst receiving a wage. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focused and know which career they want to follow. All apprenticeships offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time education. From April 2020, the apprenticeship minimum wage is £4.15 per hour. What are the entry requirements for the course?

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including English and Maths, as well as an enthusiasm for the subject, commitment to study and the ability to work independently.

What does the Apprenticeship involve?

You will study a range of core hospitality supervision knowledge, skills and behaviours, plus specialist knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to one of the following areas (which will be selected in conjunction with your employer and assessor):

• Food and beverage supervisor

• Bar supervisors

• Events supervisor

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English and maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects.

All LMC students will receive tutorial support.

How will I be Assessed?

There is continual assessment in the workplace and in college to build up evidence of your development across the core and specialist skills required for this apprenticeship.

There is a final End Point Assessment, carried out by an external assessor when the apprentice is deemed ready, which will consist of:

• A 4 hour observation in the work place

• A 30 minute presentation of a business project

• A 1 ½ hour structured professional discussion

• A 2 hour multiple choice test

At end-point assessment the apprentice must show they can perform in the occupation in a fully competent, holistic and productive way. All elements of the assessment are graded fail/pass/distinction.

Once you have gained employment you could start this programme at any time of the year

What qualification will I get?

On completion of this course you will receive a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership.
