This is a two year full time course geared towards a career in the fast growing sports industry.

You’ll learn about sports development, fitness testing and coaching. If you love sport and want a career in the sport and leisure industry or study a sport related subject at university this course is ideal for you. In addition to your course, you’ll complete industry placements and coaching qualifications.

Who is this Course for?

This course is designed for 16-18 year old and will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience. The course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers.

What progression and career opportunities will I gain?

The course can lead onto a career in:

• Health/Leisure/Sport Centres

• Sports Coaching

• Sports Development Officer

• PE Teaching

• Personal Training

• University/HND at LMC

• Soccer Scholarship in USA or Canada

What are the entry requirements for the course?

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including Maths and English OR a Level 2 related qualification PLUS grade C/4 or higher in BOTH Maths and English.

You will also need enthusiasm for the subject/area, evidence of good skills in practical subjects, enjoy working with people, commitment to study, proven interest in sports and good interpersonal skills.

Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

A key feature of this course is an appropriate 1 week course related work placement in both years of the course.

How will I be Assessed?

The course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including course work, assignments, practical observations and externally assessed examinations and externally assessed set tasks.

What qualification will I get?

On completion of this course you will receive a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport, which is nationally recognised by employers, professional bodies, universities and colleges.
