Whether you are an experienced Supervisor, a Team Leader or completely new to your leadership role, our Level 3 Apprenticeship in the Principles of Management & Leadership will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop the core competencies needed to work more effectively in your role.

This Level 3 Apprenticeship is part of the Leadership & Management Academy at LMC and supported by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), it will provide you with the best possible opportunity to develop existing competence and develop new skills, knowledge, and behaviours to achieve your potential.

On this course you will be encouraged to apply contemporary thinking and theory to the workplace to improve you and your colleague’s performance. This means if you have the aspiration and motivation to develop in your role, this could be the course for you!

The programme duration for this Apprenticeship is between 12 – 16 months depending upon progress made.

Course Overview

This exciting programme from our Leadership & Management Academy provides both new and aspiring managers, leaders and seasoned executives the opportunity to develop and build on the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to effectively face contemporary business challenges and to lead and manage these in the current business climate.

If you feel it is time to up-skill yourself, or your workforce, with a qualification that can add true value to the individual and organisation, then this Apprenticeship could be the option to explore.

There are various areas of study that we will explore and they will be both challenging, informative, fun and applicable to your role and organisation. These will include:

  • Business Planning & Strategy

  • Operational Planning & Management

  • Leadership & Management Theories

  • Building & Managing High Performance Teams

  • Professional & Personal Development for Leaders & Managers

  • Communication in Leadership & Management

  • Organisational Psychology & its Applications to Leadership & Management

The minimum commitments for this course are that you are able to attend one 3hr taught session per month in College and undertake a minimum of one 2hr one-one session, with your assessor in the work place, per month.

Outside of this there needs to be a commitment to reading, research, attending guest speaker lectures and self-study throughout the duration of the course. This is a comprehensive programme of learning and requires a high degree of motivation and organisational skills.

This Apprenticeship will be assessed with 2 main components:

  • Component 1 – A presentation with questions and answers

  • Component 2 – A professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence

The Lancaster & Morecambe Leadership & Management Academy is able to tailor the Leadership & Management Apprenticeship programmes to specific industries and has successfully worked with cohorts from various sectors including Education, Manufacturing and Care.

Progression Routes

Upon successful completion of this qualification you may progress on to the Level 5 Operations/Departmental Apprenticeship, university study, or you may choose to move on to further Full Time work in industry alongside further CPD training or CMI registration.

Entry Requirements

To study this course, you should have:

  • A good level of IT

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • An ability to work independently

  • A commitment to study (attendance, punctuality & behaviour)

  • A good base level of time management & organisation skills

  • A good understanding of English language & writing techniques

You will also need to work within an organisation or role where you can demonstrate skills and apply knowledge learnt on your course and be at least 16 years old.

Prior experience may also be considered.
