LMC receives a flying visit from BBC One's The Apprentice candidate, Lewis Ellis

Posted: 26.11.2019

Students at Lancaster & Morecambe College (LMC) were given the opportunity to meet a 2019 candidate on BBC One’s The Apprentice, Lewis Ellis, during a guest lecture lasting two hours last week on campus.

Gemma Chambers, Travel & Tourism Lecturer at LMC, reached out to Lewis on social media to ask whether he’d be available to speak to our students who are studying Business or Travel & Tourism at the College, about his own journey in the industry.

Gemma commented:

“Lewis seemed like an ideal person to talk to our students given his travel and tourism background, and his business start-up.

“Lewis gave real-life examples of dealing with difficult situations in the industry and described how they helped him get to where he is today. This resonated with the students as they all have an interest in working in similar industries.”

The students had chance at the end of the session to ask all the burning questions regarding business, travel, and of course, The Apprentice. Lewis advised them on how to manage their time, balance their work and personal lives, and how to stand out at interview days, giving them tricks of the trade along the way.

Jamie-Leigh Jackson, a student on Level 2 Travel & Tourism said:

“I have really benefitted from Lewis’ talk. His journey, starting from nothing to building his own business, has inspired me to work harder at life to reach my goals in the Travel and Tourism industry.”

Before leaving to get to his next appointment, Lewis opted for a selfie with the whole classroom, much to the students' delight.
