LMC's First Ever T-Level Students Make History

Posted: 07.09.2023

Lancaster & Morecambe College is delighted to introduce our first cohort of T Level learners.

T-Levels are new two-year qualifications which offer a blend of classroom based learning and real work experience, giving you a head start into the world of work. They have been designed to give students the opportunity to develop the skills, technical knowledge and behaviours that employers look for and are equivalent to three A Levels; upon completion you can progress within your chosen career, onto a higher level Apprenticeship or into Higher Education.

This September we have launched T Levels in Health, Child Education and Business, with support from our local employer partners who have helped shape the curriculum and will be offering work placement opportunities for our learners.

The Government say,

T Levels are based on the same standards as apprenticeships, designed by employers and approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute).

Next year we will continue to develop our T Level provision and will be recruiting for the new Engineering and Animal Management courses. Additional funding has been secured to create new teaching spaces, refurbish our Science laboratories and invest in industry-standard resources, all of which will benefit our learners. Details will be available on our website and at our upcoming Open Evenings.

Charlotte Rawes, Vice Principal says,

We are pleased that so many students have chosen the new T Levels and are looking forward to supporting this first cohort to achieve their qualifications over the next 2 years. LMC has always prided itself on its excellent employer engagement and our partnership with local and regional businesses will benefit our T Level learners, allowing them to complete their industrial placements with a range of key employers.
