My biggest accomplishment since leaving College has been building a successful clientele from scratch in less than two months, it has been challenging but also very rewarding. Social media has played a huge role in helping me grow my business
Brooke loved her journey at LMC, she started on the Hairdressing Level 2 Apprenticeship, which was the perfect course for her as it combined working in the industry whilst developing her hairdressing skills at College. After completing this course Brooke progressed onto the part time Hairdressing Level 3 evening course, where she continued to build her skills and gain more opportunities for her future career.
Brooke chose to study at LMC because of the opportunities the Hairdressing Apprenticeship provided,
Being able to gain the practical experience while still having the support and guidance from college was something that I really valued. One of the highlights of the course was the opportunity to work with real clients. This gave me a true understanding of the hairdressing industry and helped me develop confidence, communication skills, and the ability to work with a variety of people. I found that working with real clients was a completely different experience compared to practising on a block and really helped me to prepare for my career.
During her time at LMC, Brooke developed essential skills such as customer service, communication, and confidence. These skills have been invaluable in her professional journey and have helped her to build stronger relationships with their clients. The course also provided her with the foundations and practical skills needed to become a successful hairdresser. It gave Brooke an insight into what is involved in running her own business and helped her to prepare for becoming self-employed.
Since leaving LMC, Brooke has taken the next step in her career by becoming self-employed and managing her own column. Her responsibilities now include building a client base, managing appointments, organising tax, and purchasing products such as colours, while making careful decisions for her own business.
My biggest accomplishment since leaving College has been building a successful clientele from scratch in less than two months, it has been challenging but also very rewarding. Social media has played a huge role in helping me grow my business..Through sharing my work on social media I habe buil;t up my client base, and have also received incredible opportunities, including being offered free business courses and being contacted by brands wanting to send me their products.
For anyone considering studying the Hairdressing Apprenticeship, I would say go for it! Although the course can be challenging, it is worth the commitment and hard work. Being able to help people feel confident through their hair is incredibly rewarding, and I would encourage others to make the most of social media to share their work and create new opportunities.
I love working at Lancaster & Morecambe College with such an amazing team that are passionate about delivering outstanding teaching across the departments. The Apprenticeship courses at LMC are well developed programmes that offer students amazing opportunities and experiences, whilst allowing them to earn while they learn as they progress through the Apprenticeship.
In my role as a course tutor I’m responsible for ensuring that my students develop in many areas, and not just Hairdressing. I like to encourage my students to improve their well-being as well as support them with their personal development and learning journey, to gain the knowledge to be successful within their course to achieve the qualifications they need to progress in the industry.
My favourite part of working at Lancaster & Morecambe college is watching students progress and supporting them with their learning. I also love knowing they are learning within a hairdressing environment and being able to see them develop their skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
