A Traineeship is a work based learning programme tailor made around your needs. It offers the chance to undertake quality work experience in an employment sector of your choice for a minimum of 100 hours. As a successful trainee you will have developed the skills and knowledge to apply for an Apprenticeship and be more skilled and confident to apply for jobs.
You will cover maths and English skills, work preparation skills and have a practical work placement.

Who is this Course for?

This course is designed for 16-18 year old and will be delivered as a study programme which includes math and English where applicable and work experience. The course will include a substantial amount of careers related learning designed to support progression to the suitable next step, this could include educational trips, employability skills and employer encounters such as guest speakers.

What progression and career opportunities will I gain?

Successful completion will enable a progression into the Commis Chef, Production Chef or the Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship

What are the entry requirements for the course?

You need to be motivated to develop your skills in preparation of an apprenticeship or employment.

You will need to be punctual, reliable, have good interpersonal skills and present yourself professionally in the workplace.

What does the course involve?

You will develop a range of culinary techniques that will provide the skills required to suit our employers.

You will also gain a qualification in food safety. You will study work preparation activities which will include; CV Writing, Interview Preparation and techniques, communication skills and team work.

The programme will include educational trips and visiting to support and enhance your knowledge and understanding of the sector.

You will be provided with work placements for a minimum of 1 day, a week or up to 6 months.

You will be required to study Maths and English if you have not already achieved grade C/4 or above.

How will I be Assessed?

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including a workplace review, practical performance and a workplace diary.

When can I start?

You can start this Traineeship at any time throughout the year.
