18th Edition Wiring Regulations

This 18th Edition 3-day course covers the New Regulations which became mandatory in January 2019.

The course is aimed at Electrical Engineers, who are looking to update existing qualifications, as well as those wanting to join a government approved Part P scheme provider.

Initial Verification & Periodic Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations Combined - Level 3 Award

4 day theory sessions: starts 29 May 2026
1 day practical:  To be confirmed on enrollment

This 5-day course is suitable for experienced electricians looking to improve skills and understanding of Initial Verification & Periodic Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations. The course covers inspecting and testing of new, existing single, and three-phase installation in line with the requirements of BS 7671, as well as the correct completion of certification and reporting.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

The SMSTS course is one of the most highly respected qualifications for persons who are responsible for the management of construction activities such as construction, building maintenance or facilities management. Many employers insist that all their site managers hold the certificate.

Domestic, Commercial & Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation

This qualification is aimed at practicing electricians interested in understanding how to install the range of equipment and systems available. It covers the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private and commercial locations, and includes exclusive guidance on electrical requirements. By the end of the course you will understand and be able to apply selection, installation and commissioning of electric vehicle charging equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial locations.

Understanding Domestic Retrofit

Understanding Domestic Retrofit

This Level 2 qualification course has been designed to provide learners with a comprehensive overview of retrofit activities. During the course, you will learn the key aspects required to ensure a successful retrofit project, including the information used, health and safety considerations, resource management, risk assessment, contractual requirements, and the intricate processes involved.

You will be required to complete 3 units that will provide you with:

  • The knowledge of why retrofit is so important to environmental sustainability
  • What retrofit is including the principles, standards, regulations, roles and materials
  • Installation processes

On successful completion of this course, you will possess a solid foundation in the fundamentals of retrofitting, empowering you to contribute effectively to any retrofit project.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is beneficial for individuals working in various trades such as plastering, joinery, carpentry, rendering, heat pump installation, and solar panel installation. It is also suitable for professionals in the fields of retrofit advising, retrofit assessing, retrofit coordinating, and retrofit designing.

This 2-day course is delivered face to face at Lancaster & Morecambe College and is fully funded, further more we have attendance grants of £100 per day available for SME’s with fewer than 250 employees (must be based in the Lancaster District, evidenced by employer postcode).
