My favourite part of the role is working with learners and seeing the knowledge and confidence they build through our courses.

Vikki Dobson started working for Lancaster and Morecambe College in March 2025 alongisde her role in care. In her role as a carer, she had began training new staff and enjoyed giving them the knowledge to succeed in their professional roles.

We asked Vikki what her favourite part of the role is and she said...

Working with my learners and seeing the knowledge and confidence built through our classes together and seeing when they can relate what we have learnt to their own working roles and developing this further to see how everything intertwines.

Vikki mainly works with the Apprenticeship and Work Based teams here at LMC and she also teaches the progression sessions as well as tutor assessments and planning for Level 2 and Level 3 work-based diplomas in care. Vikki also actively manages the tutor assessments for Level 2 distance learning courses and plays a role in gathering feedback and ensuring certificates are distributed.

We asked Vikki, what would you say to someone who was thinking about studying a distance learning course and she said...

I would say have a go! We offer a lot of support for anyone who wants to complete a course, the course materials are fantastic. There is a lot of support available from your tutor and the teaching is done all around how you learn.
