I have gained a range of key skills from this course, but the most important has been the confidence to speak up and ask questions, knowing that people are always willing to help.

Lauren joined Lancaster & Morecambe College in September 2022 to study AAT Accounting Level 2 and has since progressed to AAT Accounting Level 4.

Lauren is a Finance Assistant at Lancaster University, where she is responsible for supporting the team and she oversees expenses, bank reconciliation and payments. Studying AAT Accounting alongside her job supports Lauren's development in her role and allows her to complete her tasks to a high standard.

I work as a Finance Assistant at Lancaster University. I was given the opportunity to study at the College alongside my job, and it has really supported my development. The course helps me understand what I am doing at work and has allowed me to progress in my role.

The AAT Accounting courses provide the knowledge and skills needed to work in the finance industry, covering key areas such as bookkeeping, costing and financial software. These skills support students in their current roles and prepare them for future opportunities in finance.

Lauren was also awarded the Rising Star Award in our Apprenticeship Awards 2024 her nominations praised her financial skills and how she developed in her job role to become a 'well-rounded, knowledgeable and trusted finance expert'.

My biggest achievement whilst at LMC was being awarded Rising Star in the Apprentice Awards, and now I am proud of how far I have come in my career!

When asked what she would say to someone considering studying Accounting with LMC, Lauren said:

Do it! It will allow you to learn and work at the same time, so you get all the theory knowledge and then put it into practice in the work place.
