Carol Spoor

I love working with my students and helping them to achieve their goals. It is extremely rewarding when students pass their exams, grasp a complex concept, and, ultimately, succeed in their qualification and in their careers.

Carol started working at Lancaster & Morecambe College in September 2025 after having worked in finance for over 25 years, as she was looking for a role where she could support others and pass on her skills and experience.

Before joining LMC, Carol graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics & Statistics, then went on to work in finance for over 25 years and became an FCCA (Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the highest achievement awarded to ACCA members, which recognises her experience and commitment! Carol now teaches on our AAT Accounting Level 2 and Level 3 courses, where she supports students to achieve their qualifications.

I love working with my students and helping them to achieve their goals. It is extremely rewarding when students pass their exams, grasp a complex concept, and, ultimately, succeed in their qualification and in their careers.  I am here to support my students through their qualifications, providing the knowledge they need, and sharing my own career experience to demonstrate how the theory is put into practice. 

As well as teaching Accountancy, Carol has a passion for triathlons, where she is involved in coaching. By combining both her experience and skills in accountancy with her passion for coaching, Carol naturally fell into teaching!

Having worked in finance for over 25 years, I fancied a change in direction. As a hobby I enjoy taking part in triathlons. I was involved in coaching and found I got a real buzz from helping people to achieve their goals. As such, I was looking for a role where I could support others while utilising the skills and experiences from my career, so joining LMC felt very natural to me.

When Carol was asked what she would say to someone thinking of studying AAT Accounting, she said:

Every business needs an adept accountant. They have a unique role within a business, knowing the entire organisation to aid managers with crucial decision-making. If you enjoy problem-solving, working as part of a team, and taking a key part in supporting a business to succeed, then give Accountancy a go, you won't regret it!.
