Many of our students progress to the world of work or higher education, read our Alumni stories to find out where our students went after College.
The advice I’d give to anyone considering an apprenticeship is to just do it, if you’re not enjoying what you do now, just go and do something you enjoy.
I’ve learnt so many skills since the start of my apprenticeship, so many skills that I couldn’t have learnt on my own.
Before starting my Apprenticeship, I had very little confidence in myself and found it hard to do anything that involved stepping outside of my comfort zone, so being here has really helped.
Before starting the Apprenticeship I would sit around and not do much, but now I’m motivated to get out of bed because I’m doing something I enjoy, I come here to work and I love it.
Not only will you see a big improvement as a learner and a footballer, the Academy can offer many different opportunities and pathways for you to pursue. It is without a doubt the best environment for any footballer to flourish and excel in.
I would 100% recommended this course to anyone looking into it. Being involved with the reserve team was always a pleasure, you got to play with professional footballers. Not only was this a great achievement but having the opportunity to play against professional teams at professional stadiums is something I will never forget.
The best bit about my course was winning the league in my second year. Before the season started we had a few key players leave and I don’t think anybody truly believed that we could go and win it again, but we did, and I felt a great sense of pride.”
I would say that education is a door to a multitude of opportunities, and qualifications really do count. Find something you love and keep going, you won’t regret it. Education really can change your life!
Since leaving LMC in 2016 I have gone on to complete my BA hons in Children, Schools & Families at The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Alongside my degree I also worked in a private residential childrens home as a Senior Care Officer.
Business at Lancaster and Morecambe College was the best course to prepare me for the real world. I studied modules that educated me on every aspect of business including marketing, health and safety, management, entrepreneurship and lots more. As I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after college, this was the perfect course which gave me lots of possible career paths after finishing.
During my time at LMC I have won 3 separate awards for being the “Apprentice of the Year”, one from LMC, one from APSE and also one from Lancaster City Council.
I hope to complete my Level 2 course at college and then start my Apprenticeship with BAE in September this year.
