This course is suitable for those who are thinking about or have recently embarked on a start-up, and want to gain the skills and knowledge needed to develop the business.

The course will give learners an understanding of the initial processes & requirements of a business start-up, knowledge of the first steps including the marketing, legal & financial requirements, & an understanding of how to write a business plan.

Learners will compile a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed to gain their Level 2 certificate. Occasional home study time may be required.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to this course and tutor support is offered where necessary.

Course Activities

Four mandatory units will be covered:

  • Initial steps for a business start-up

  • Marketing a business start-up

  • Legal & financial considerations for a business start-up

  • Developing a business plan

As part of the course, learners will take part in a variety of theory and practical based sessions that will develop their awareness of business & personal skills needed to embark on a business start-up.

Industry Links

As part of the course, learners will meet a variety of business owners to support them in their start-up journey, who will then become a wider business support network vital for future success.
