Courses Taken: Public Services Level 3
Profession: Law Student

I chose Lancaster & Morecambe College because the Public Services course was a challenge but this came with growth and opportunities. The course was a combination of physical and mental challenges. Additionally, we were given the opportunity of meaningful work experience placements, student support at this college is amazing, from providing one to one help in the classroom to offering advice, study support and financial guidance for students.

Courses Taken: Air Cabin Crew Level 2 & Travel and Tourism Level 2
Profession: Cabin Crew for Jet2.com

The courses gave me confidence to apply for the jobs I wanted and prepared me with what to say and how to act throughout the interview process. I really enjoyed the cabin crew course, I visited so many new places, which I wouldn’t have experienced had I not joined the LMC course.

Courses Taken: Hospitality & Catering Level 3
Profession: Head Chef at The Black Swan, Ravenstonedale
Years Studied: 2008 - 2011

Lancaster & Morecambe College helped me to increase confidence in myself, not just teaching me the basics of classical cookery, but enabling me to achieve as much as I want to achieve. It was there that I realised you can get as much out of your chosen career as you put in, it’s all about having the motivation, a good group of people around you, and the ethic to work, work, work! I was awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year 2011’ which I was extremely grateful for and really topped off my time here.

Courses Taken: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport
Profession: Communication Specialist in the British Army

The time I spent at LMC made me a much more confident person! It re-opened doors for me which I thought were closed for good. LMC also introduced me to Morecambe Ladies Football Club. I honestly believe a lot of the characteristics I cherish, which have made me a better soldier over the years, were gained at LMC.

Profession: Gym Instructor

Through completing my course at LMC it allowed me to get the grades to get into university even though I never stuck it out there. But LMC also helped me get the job I’ve got today. My current employers looked at what I had done at college and the experienced I gained there in the sports department.

I have always been incredibly grateful to the College for giving me the skills and confidence I needed to pursue a career in professional services.  I am equally grateful now for the opportunity to work with the College to help develop skills in the next generation and hopefully create for them the same opportunities that I enjoyed.

My biggest accomplishment was finishing my Foundation Certificate in Accounting (AAT Level 2) course with distinction. It wasn’t easy, especially as I have to juggle my time with work, family and my studies. I am very happy with my result.

I studied here doing Public Services Level 3 and loved it so I decided to stay for another year. I initially chose LMC as it was one of the few that taught Public Services, but also because it is a really good college.
