Courses Taken: Aspire to Performing Arts
Profession: Student

This course has been a gateway for me as a performer to move on to bigger and better things. The tutor is so inclusive and understanding. She doesn’t want to highlight what I can’t do because of my disability so she’s choreographed showcases and dances where I can achieve. I have been really lucky that my tutor believes in me so that I can perform as best as I can.

The ability to do both theory and practical work in the same area really appeals to me. The tutors and my classmates are great too.

Profession: Cabin Crew for Jet2.com

The courses gave me confidence to apply for the jobs I wanted and prepared me with what to say and how to act throughout the interview process. I really enjoyed the cabin crew course, I visited so many new places, which I wouldn’t have experienced had I not joined the LMC course.

Courses Taken: Hospitality & Catering Level 3
Profession: Head Chef at The Black Swan, Ravenstonedale
Years Studied: 2008 - 2011

Lancaster & Morecambe College helped me to increase confidence in myself, not just teaching me the basics of classical cookery, but enabling me to achieve as much as I want to achieve. It was there that I realised you can get as much out of your chosen career as you put in, it’s all about having the motivation, a good group of people around you, and the ethic to work, work, work! I was awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year 2011’ which I was extremely grateful for and really topped off my time here.

Courses Taken: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport
Profession: Communication Specialist in the British Army

The time I spent at LMC made me a much more confident person! It re-opened doors for me which I thought were closed for good. LMC also introduced me to Morecambe Ladies Football Club. I honestly believe a lot of the characteristics I cherish, which have made me a better soldier over the years, were gained at LMC.

Courses Taken: National Diploma in Sport & Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching
Profession: Personal Trainer & Swimming Instructor

There was always a friendly atmosphere around the sports centre, everyone got on well including students and staff. The college organised some fantastic trips including a stay at Club La Santa in Lanzarote, I went twice and it was a brilliant experience both times. It allowed me to meet people from different courses. Going to college was the best decision I made, the whole experience was great and it has helped me get to where I am today.

The atmosphere in and around college and the friends you meet which I still have contact with today. The opportunities that are available at LMC. I was lucky enough to work in Bulgaria on a Summer Sports Camp in 2008. I also fortunate to travel to Russia to work with a grammar school and had the opportunity to travel to Slovakia on two occasions for a skiing holiday.

Through completing my course at LMC it allowed me to get the grades to get into university even though I never stuck it out there. But LMC also helped me get the job I’ve got today. My current employers looked at what I had done at college and the experienced I gained there in the sports department.

I have always been incredibly grateful to the College for giving me the skills and confidence I needed to pursue a career in professional services.  I am equally grateful now for the opportunity to work with the College to help develop skills in the next generation and hopefully create for them the same opportunities that I enjoyed.

My best bit about the course was being selected for Bulgaria. This was a great life experience and it helped me gain confidence. I had a brilliant time. We also took a trip to Poland, this was another great experience the college offered. We visited a number of historic places. I also enjoyed the different topics of Public Services and the knowledge they offered.

The tutors and course enabled me to achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport qualification. The qualification provided me with a platform to move forward with my education.
