RSL Music Practitioners Levels 1, 2 & 3 HNC Level 4 Music, HND Level 5 Music
When did you start working at LMC?
What brought you to LMC?
The opportunity to join the LMC Music team and to have a chance to aid in the evolution of the courses was too good an opportunity to miss.
What did you do prior to working here?
Having completed a degree in Popular World Musics at Leeds University I moved back to the area and completed my teaching qualification. As with many musicians I had a portfolio career, working in various bands, teaching at Kendal, writing music for a few short films, recording before the opportunity to work at LMC came up.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Working with people who share a passion for music and being present at that magical moment of musical inception, where the nucleus of an idea begins to take shape, to be able to assist in that developmental process and help to see it through to release is a great part of the job.
What is the best thing about the course you teach?
The supportive and creative environment. As a team we try really hard to facilitate a community ethos within our music groups where people aren’t afraid to try out new musical ideas, to ask each other for help and support and to encourage each other to push as hard as they can in every aspect of the courses.
What are the best things about working at College?
The supportive staffroom and the friends that I have made while being here, including former students who are making careers for themselves now in the music industry who chose to stay in touch and offer opportunities, support and advice for our current students.
