What do I need to join?

3 GCSEs at grade A*-D Please add equivalents in numbers OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS maths or English GCSE at grade D/3 or higher. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than E/2 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.

General Information

This is an interesting and challenging one year full time course which is designed for students wishing to gain employment in the health and social care sector, or progress to study at Level 3. The course is a mixture of academic study and vocational experience.

Who is this course for?

The course is suitable for school leavers who wish to study in detail various aspects of health and social care. The course enables students to gain wide knowledge and experience of the many aspects of health and social care, and to become familiar with the role of the professional within the sector.
