Lancaster & Morecambe College are looking for a Pastoral Mentor to support learners at LMC to achieve their full potential. You will work with the Safeguarding manager to ensure all support for learners is compliant with the current Keeping Children Safe in Education and Prevent Duty legislation, acting as a point of contact regarding wellbeing or pastoral matters. Part of this role will be to help support, develop, implement and monitor learner improvement plans with the aim of improving attendance, progress and achievement. Excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality and experience of working with young people are essential to the role. You should hold a Level 2 qualification in Safeguarding/Child Protection/Prevent training or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe, as well as holding GCSE’s Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English. You should also have, or be willing to undertake, a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health.

Lancaster and Morecambe College are seeking a specialist carpentry and joinery instructor and maintenance technician to join our Construction and Engineering department, working in our state-of-the-art Construction Centre. Your responsibilities will include the instruction of practical sessions to learners, focusing on practical skills and development, as well as ensuring a healthy and safe environment. Jake started off with a Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship with the Youth Offending Team in Lancaster, which he applied for through the Job Centre, after dropping out of university. He felt that full time academic study did not suit his learning style, and was more comfortable having a practical, hands-on approach in an area that he was interested in, which at that time was Business Support. After the Business Administration Apprenticeship, he progressed onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship at Lancaster Farms Prison Service within the education sector. On completion of this course, he gained a position as a Learning Support Assistant at Lancaster & Morecambe College. Leading on from his experience of working with students at the College, Jake decided that he would like to broaden his horizons and applied for a teaching job abroad for a year.
Amy has always had a keen interest in business, in particular the management of businesses and began her career with a Retail Apprenticeship at New Look, before going on to complete a Retail Management Apprenticeship. Amy says that she loved her experiences in retail, but eventually decided it was time to have a change in career and worked in a recruitment office helping people to become job ready. Amy completed a third Apprenticeship at Lancaster & Morecambe College, in employment related services and went on afterwards to do her training to become an Assessor, and the rest is history! Amy been an Assessor for 9 years now, for a range of subjects – Retail, Customer Service, Warehousing, Employment Related Services, Team Leading, Management, Learning & Development, Marketing Assistant and Business Administration. She now specialises in Business Administration, having also taught on the full time Business course here at LMC.
Catherine Guest, a Business Administration/Customer Service Apprenticeship Advisor, started working for LMC in May 2008 as an NVQ assessor now renamed as an advisor. She had always delivered training in her previous roles and enjoyed watching people grow in confidence through training and development, so moving to LMC was the obvious choice to further progress her interest in this area.

Lancaster and Morecambe College (LMC) are thrilled to announce that it will receive significant new capital funding to support its T Level preparation, as announced by Government today. All Further Education colleges who are delivering new T Levels in 2023 and 2024 were invited to submit bids to the T Level Capital Buildings and Facilities Improvement Grant. LMC was successful in its bid, being awarded just under £2,000,000.

You should have a minimum of five years’ industrial experience in Welding or a related discipline, and hold Level 2/3 qualifications in Fabrication or Welding. You should also be willing to achieve a Level 3 teaching qualification.

There are regular public service buses from Lancaster and Morecambe, which stop near the Morecambe Road or Torrisholme Road entrances to the College.

BY TRAIN
To travel to main site by bus from Lancaster Train Station, Stagecoach bus number 1, 2 or 41 will bring you straight to the Morecambe Road entrance of College. Alternatively, walk to Lancaster bus station and catch one of the buses mentioned above.
